Overview
Helen is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Property Group. Helen’s experience includes advising on the non-contentious aspects of commercial property transactions, including land acquisitions, sales and purchases and day-to-day portfolio management.

She also advises on all aspects of landlord and tenant matters, including agreements for lease, the grant and renewal of leases, lease assignment and subletting, licenses to carry out alterations, break clauses and lease termination provisions. Helen also has extensive experience in property finance for corporate clients looking to refinance to fund business expansion or to secure a better deal with a new lender.

Highlights
Recent matters of note include acting for a buyer of a land for development purposes including the negotiation of overage provisions; the negotiation of a lease which a high value rent for an educational establishment; negotiation of a retention to protect the purchaser’s financial position when acquiring a former factory site in a deal worth £1 million where there was uncertainty about whether an election to VAT had been made by the seller; and refinancing a day nursery as part of a planned expansion under the terms of a lease requiring the finance deal to be pre-approved by the landlord

Outside of Work
Helen enjoys baking and likes to swim when the opportunity arises, although most of her time is spent supporting and volunteering at her sons’ swimming club.
